On the afternoon of November 11th, Dr. Ji Lin from the Faculty of Engineering at Coventry University in the UK was invited by the School of Urban Railway Transportation to give a presentation titled From Project Preparations to Individual and Group Projects - An Introduction of Final Year Student Projects in the School of Engineering, Coventry University in Conference Room 8A509 of the Modern Transportation Engineering Center.
In the report, Dr. Ji Lin pointed out that student projects are academic tasks that every student must complete in order to qualify for graduation. The purpose is to showcase the skills and knowledge acquired by students in their studies, and through the project, students can also improve their abilities in problem-solving, time management, communication, research, and analysis. The Faculty of Engineering at Coventry University offers a wide range of programs for final year students, aimed at providing them with the opportunity to acquire the relevant and up-to-date skills and knowledge required to serve as professional engineers in various fields, including engineering management, research, engineering design, development, and consulting. Dr. Ji Lin highlighted the entire process of setting up and managing student programs for the final year students at the Faculty of Engineering at Coventry University. The teachers and students who participated in the report actively discussed with Dr. Ji Lin the practical problems encountered during the execution of the student project. The atmosphere at the meeting was lively, and the teachers and students present listened carefully to and studied the report content, further broadening their horizons.
After the report, Dr. Ji Lin from the Faculty of Engineering at Coventry University in the UK had exchanges with Professor Sheng Xiaozhen, Vice Dean Wang Lei, and Deputy Director of the Vehicle Engineering Department Zhu Wenliang. Both parties first reviewed the cooperation and exchange situation over the past year, and then had detailed discussions on the international cultivation of students, focusing on the 3.5+0.5+1 undergraduate and master's programs, 1+1+1 master's dual degree programs, and short-term exchange programs during winter and summer vacations. Both parties agree that working together in the field of international talent cultivation for students is expected to establish a sustained and normalized communication and cooperation mechanism, creating more international education and exchange opportunities for teachers and students of the two schools, and promoting further development of cooperation between the two schools.
Dr. Ji Lin is a senior scholar in teaching and research at the Faculty of Engineering, Coventry University, UK. The professional knowledge mainly focuses on the field of structural dynamics, especially the mid to high frequency vibration of complex composite structures, and I have published over 60 papers. The main research directions are vehicle NVH design and analysis, rotor dynamics, and vibration based fault detection. I have guided multiple undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral projects on academic research or industry development, including individual to group projects.
