On the morning of October 19th, the 2024 International Songjiang Symposium on Railway Noise and Vibration was successfully held at Shanghai University of Engineering Science. This symposium is hosted by Shanghai University of Engineering Science, jointly organized by the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Shanghai University of Engineering Science, School of Urban Railway Transportation, and the Shanghai Rail Transit Vibration and Noise Control Technology Engineering Research Center. More than 200 experts and scholars from enterprises, universities, and research institutes in China, the UK, France, Belgium, and other countries and regions attended the symposium. Professor Yu Tao, President of Shanghai University of Engineering Science, attended the conference and delivered a welcome speech. Academician of the Royal Canadian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Professor Cheng Li from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Engineering, Professor David Thompson from the Institute of Sound and Vibration at the University of Southampton in the UK, Professor Geert Degrande from the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Leuven in Belgium, Senior Engineer Maliczak Christophe Olivier, Technical Expert of CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd., National Talent Professors Sheng Xiaozhen and Wang Anbin, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department Wang Qin, Director of the Party Committee Teacher Work Department and Director of the Personnel Department Zhang Yuqing, Professor Liu Zhigang, Dean of School of Urban Railway Transportation, and representatives of teachers and students from the school attended the forum. The opening ceremony was presided over by Dean Liu Zhigang.
At the opening ceremony, Principal Yu Tao warmly welcomed the arrival of all the guests. Principal Yu mentioned three key words. First, thank you. Thank you to the friends who participated in the Songjiang Symposium last year for fulfilling their obligations and continuing to participate in this year's forum. At the same time, thank you to the experts, teachers, and students who have joined this symposium. The second is sharing. In the past year, the school has made new breakthroughs in the undergraduate education and teaching review and evaluation by the Ministry of Education and the classification evaluation of applied technology universities in Shanghai. Professor Sheng Xiaozhen, Professor Wang Anbin and a group of experts and teachers from the School of Rail Transit have made important contributions to the construction of the doctoral degree program. The third is anticipation. We look forward to more universities, enterprises, and scholars in the field of rail transit vibration and noise reduction joining the platform of the school's rail transit vibration and noise field, allowing more experts and scholars to participate and share domestic and foreign cooperation resources, including Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Co., Ltd. We hope that the International Songjiang Symposium on Railway Noise and Vibration will have a radiation influence covering Shanghai, China, and even the world.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Sheng Xiaozhen, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the International Symposium and representative of School of Urban Railway Transportation, introduced the situation of the forum on behalf of the organizing committee. Professor Sheng introduced the purpose of founding the Songjiang Forum last year and the basic situation of this year's symposium. Experts from 16 universities and 14 enterprises at home and abroad have registered to participate in this symposium. The topics of the forum cover cutting-edge technologies such as acoustic black holes, machine learning, data-driven modeling, and intelligent monitoring.
The symposium will last for two days, with a total of 21 experts giving academic presentations, including Professor Cheng Li from the Faculty of Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Professor David Thompson from the University of Southampton in the UK, Professor Geert Degrande from the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Leuven in Belgium, and Senior Technical Expert Maliczak Christophe Olivier from CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd., who will be invited to give presentations. The convening of this symposium is of great significance in promoting academic exchanges on vibration and noise reduction in rail transit, enhancing China's influence in the field of vibration and noise reduction in rail transit, and increasing the international reputation of Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology.
