From August 25th to 29th, the railway noise academic team led by Professor Sheng Xiaozhen from Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology participated in the 53rd International Congress and Exposition on Noise Control Engineering in Nantes, France, and presented a paper on the cutting-edge research of railway noise control at the conference, winning widespread praise from attending experts and scholars.
This conference, as an annual event in the field of noise research and control, brings together research elites and industry leaders from around the world to explore the latest solutions and future trends for noise pollution. Professor Sheng Xiaozhen and her team, with their profound accumulation and innovative achievements in the field of railway noise, have conducted in-depth and easy to understand sharing on topics such as dynamic performance characterization analysis of track components and research on the safety and vibration reduction of elastic wheels in vehicle operation, showcasing the latest research results in this field. In addition, Zhong Shuoqiao from Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology presided over the sub session on Ground Traffic Vibration Noise.
After the meeting, Professor Sheng Xiaozhen and his delegation went to Milan, Italy to continue deepening international exchanges and cooperation. During the period of August 30th to September 3rd, they first visited the School of Mechanical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano and had an in-depth tour of its laboratories related to railway vibration and noise control. This visit not only allowed scholars to personally experience the advanced research facilities and technological means of European universities, but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation between the two sides in scientific research projects.
Subsequently, Professor Sheng Xiaozhen's team was invited to participate in the special seminar on Application and Maintenance of Elastic Wheels in Urban Rail Transit Vehicles held at Politecnico di Milano. The seminar brought together the team of Professor Roberto Corradi from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, the head of the Urban Rail Transit Technology and Operations Department at Milan Metro, and the Technical Director of Lucchini, an Italian company, to conduct in-depth exchanges and discussions on the latest developments, practical application cases, and long-term maintenance strategies of elastic wheel technology.
At the meeting, Professor Sheng Xiaozhen and her team members actively spoke up, sharing China's experience and challenges in the research and development of elastic wheel technology. At the same time, they also had a lively discussion with attending experts on how to improve the durability of elastic wheels and reduce maintenance costs. Both sides agree that strengthening international cooperation and exchanges can effectively promote the widespread application and continuous optimization of elastic wheel technology worldwide, and contribute to the green development of urban rail transit.
This academic trip from Nantes, France to Milan, Italy not only showcases the latest research achievements and international influence of our university's research team in the field of railway noise and vibration control, but also builds a new bridge for deep cooperation with Politecnico di Milano in related fields, indicating that both parties will work together to create more scientific research achievements in the future.
